MLS Highlights

2008: Set career highs in all offensive categories, scoring five goals and adding seven assists in a career-best 26 games. Gordon tied a career-high with two goals in the Galaxy’s 5-2 win vs. Chivas USA on 4/26 after coming on as a second half substitute. He added another goal against Chivas USA on 8/14, scoring in second half stoppage time to earn a 2-2 draw and giving the Galaxy the 2008 Honda SuperClasico. Tallied the first multi-assist game of his career on 8/3, setting up both goals in the 3-2 loss at San Jose. Was shown the first red card of his MLS career late in the first half of the 3-2 win vs. Colorado on 6/7 for an altercation with Rapids’ defender Facundo Erpen, who was also sent off. In November he was officially inducted to the NJCAA Soccer Hall of Fame.

2007: Again saw his season blighted by injuries as preseason foot surgery ruled Gordon out until July. After returning against Richmond in the Open Cup, Gordon went on to play in 14 games, making 11 starts and scoring three goals. Gordon tallied his first goal of the year on 9/1 vs. Real Salt Lake in a 2-1 loss. One week later, Gordon was back on the scoresheet, tallying LA’s first goal in a 3-1 win over Colorado before adding his third and final goal of the season against Houston on 9/16. Gordon also scored three times in SuperLiga, tallying the Galaxy’s first goal in the 2-1 win over Pachuca on 7/24 as well as a pair of goals in the 6-5 win at FC Dallas a week later. Gordon’s three goals in that tournament placed him in a tie for second place on the scoring chart.

2006: Became an important part of the Galaxy’s late season success. Scored his first goal in MLS in a 5-2 LA win over D.C. on 8/26. He waited just a week to get his name back on the scoresheet, tallying his first multi-goal game, scoring twice in a 2-1 win over Kansas City. Scored his fourth and final goal of the year on 9/30 in a 3-0 win over Chivas, also tallying an assist in that game. Gordon notched his first career assist on 9/10 vs. Houston. Gordon was also the Galaxy’s joint-top scorer in the U.S. Open Cup, tallying three goals in four games, including one in the Open Cup Final defeat in Chicago.

2005: Began the preseason with a bang, scoring the lone goal in the Galaxy’s 1-0 defeat of Real Madrid’s “B” team during the club’s trip to Spain. Saddled with a groin injury much of the first half of the season, but did manage to make three starts with the first team and five with the Galaxy Reserves. Scored one goal and added one assist in 374 minutes of Reserve Division action.

2004: Made his MLS debut in a 0-0 tie at San Jose on 9/25, replacing Carlos Ruiz. He went on to crack Steve Sampson’s staring lineup for each of the final two games of the year, playing 141 minutes in those two contests.

2004: Gordon was named A-League Rookie of the Year after scoring 17 goals in 27 games for the Portland Timbers and leading them to the best regular season record in the league.
