A strong defender who has cemented his presence in the heart of both the Galaxy and the Jamaica National Team defenses over the last five seasons. The Galaxy's Defensive Player of the Year in both the 2004 and 2005 seasons, Marshall reached the 200-career games played plateau in his final game of the 2006 season. Of those 200 games, 117 have been as a member of the Galaxy, making Marshall one of the club's longest tenured players and undoubted leaders.

MLS Experience

2006: Played a pivotal role in the Galaxy's franchise record 521-minute shut out streak from 6/17-7/22, starting every game during the streak with the exception of the final match against Columbus on 7/22. Finished the season with 25 appearances, all as a starter playing 2,149 minutes, the second most in his MLS career. On 8/30 at Real Salt Lake, Marshall eclipsed the 15,000 career minutes played plateau. In that game, he was shown one of his career-high matching seven yellow cards.

2005: Appeared in 25 regular season matches, starting all of them, and logged 2,085 minutes, collecting a goal and two assists. The veteran defender anchored a Galaxy defense that allowed a total of 45 goals, an average of just 1.38 per contest, with six shutouts. He scored his only goal of the year in a 3-2 win over Colorado on 5/8 and added assists in wins a pair of home wins over FC Dallas on 4/30 and 10/1. He was rewarded for his superb play by being named to the MLS All-Star team and was selected as the club's Defender of the Year for the second consecutive season.

2004: Opened season in starting XI but was forced to the sidelines for seven games after the spraining medial collateral ligament in his left knee late in the game against Dallas on 5/8. He returned on 7/4 and would miss just three games the rest of the year. Scored both of his goals against the Kansas City Wizards, an equalizer in second half stoppage time on 7/24 on the road and a go-ahead tally on 10/2 at The Home Depot Center. His goal on 7/24 was his first in a Galaxy uniform and his first in MLS play since in more than three years.

2003: Named an MLS All-Star for the first time in his career after seeing extensive playing in a defense that ranked best in MLS, allowing 35 goals in 30 games. He appeared in 25 of those games, making 19 starts.

2002:: In his first year with the Galaxy, Marshall was a member of the top MLS defense, which posted a league low 1.18 GAA with seven shutouts. He played 24 games, making 19 starts and tying a career-high with five assists. Set a career-high with two assists in a 3-2 loss to New England on 5/25.

2001: In his final year with Miami, he finished the season with three goals and two assists in 23 games for the team that finished with the best regular season record in MLS. All three of his goals came in Miami wins, with his first goal of the year, on 4/14 agianst New England, serving as the game-winner.

2000: Appeared in 23 games, making 21 starts. He tallied a goal and two assists despite missing six games due to Jamaican National Team duty and one game due to a left hamstring strain.

1999: Played in a career-high 28 games, making 25 starts and was on the field for 2,223 minutes. He ranked fourth on the club in goals and assists with four and five respectively, setting career-highs in each. One of his four goals was the game-winner, beating Kansas City with a 19th minute strike in a 1-0 win on 4/24.

1998: Made his MLS debut with the Colorado Rapids on 7/11, coming on as a second half substitute in a 2-1 win over New England. That was his only appearance with the Rapids before being traded to Miami where he would go on to make eight more appearances. He scored his first MLS goal 9/2 against the Chicago Fire, three minutes after entering the game as a second half substitute.

International

A fixture on the Jamaican national team, who has seen extensive action for the Reggae Boyz in his four seasons with the Galaxy, Marshall made his Jamaican National Team debut in friendly vs. Romania on May 17, 2000 at Lockhart Stadium. Since then, he has appeared in a total of 59 games, scoring twice, including the game-winning goal in a 1-0 win over Trinidad and Tobago in the final round of Qualifying for the 2002 FIFA World Cup. He held down a permanent spot in Jamaica's starting XI during qualifying for 2006 FIFA World Cup Germany.
