A clever and aggressive holding midfielder who played his way onto the club after a solid pre-season in 2005. Despite his small stature, quickly gained respect from forwards throughout MLS for his physical play. A product of the fabled Sao Paulo youth program who most recently spent three seasons as an understudy at British Premiership side Arsenal.

MLS Experience

2005: Emerged as one of the leaders in the Galaxy's midfield even though the 2005 season was his first in Major League Soccer. Played in 25 regular season games - 24 as a starter - and registered two assists. Alternated with fellow Brazilian Marcelo Saragosa as the club utilized two holding midfielders, joining with captain Peter Vagenas.

Other Pro Experience

2003-04: A member of Arsenal's reserve side for the second consecutive season - played in 15 games for the Gunners and scored two goals.

2002-03: In his first campaign with the Arsenal reserve team, he participated in 10 matches, despite missing nearly three months with a severely sprained right ankle.

2001-02: Played outside of the Sao Paulo system for the first time after being sold to Arsenal, and was a assigned to the U-19 team. Helped lead the team to the English u-19 championship, hitting home in a 5-1 thrashing of Liverpool in the final at Anfield.

1994-2001: Played in various levels of the Sao Paulo system; a member of the same class as world-renowned players such as Kaká and Kleber as well as Galaxy midfielder Marcelo Saragosa.
