One of the Galaxy's biggest and most physical defenders, Veris will look to play a bigger role in Frank Yallop's squad this season. A strong rookie season was derailed slightly by a knee injury, but the 24-year old will be looking to put that behind him and regain his starting spot in 2007. In addition to his defensive strengths, Veris, who has played for PDL teams the Columbus Stars and Mid-Michigan Bucks, is equally adept at going forward and becoming a target in the box, especially on set pieces.

MLS Experience

2007: Captained the Galaxy Reserves in their 4-3 loss @ CHV on 5/21 ... Started and played all 90 minutes in central defense, committing a team-high four fouls in the 1-0 loss vs. Rangers on 5/23 ... Made his 2007 debut, playing all 90 minutes in central defense in the 0-0 draw vs. DC on 6/2 ... Tallied the first assist of his MLS career, helping to set up Cobi Jones' game-winning goal in the 3-2 win vs. RSL on 6/17. Also picked up his first caution in that game ... Started his fourth straight game on 6/23 vs. CLB but was forced to exit after 52 minutes after suffering a quad injury that ruled him out for the next month. Played his first game since suffering the quad injury in the 3-0 loss against Chivas USA on 8/23 ... Returned to the staring XI on 8/26 @ COL and was booked for the second time this season in that game ... Picked up his third yellow card in the second half of the 3-1 win vs. COL on 9/8.

2006: Made an impact in his first MLS season, appearing in 10 games, making eight starts. In those 10 games, Veris played a total of 732 minutes at both center back and as a right back. He made his MLS debut on 4/29 in a 3-2 win over Real Salt Lake, playing all 90 minutes in that game in the heart of the L.A. defense. He then went on to start the next five matches, playing all 90 minutes in four of those before suffering a sprained left MCL on 5/31 at Colorado. He missed nearly two months before returning to action on 7/22 against Columbus.

College

2005: Was named first team All-Big Ten for the second straight season, appearing in 17 games and making 15 starts. Finished the year with one goal and one assist, both of which came in a win over Bowling Green on 9/23, and helped his team get back to the NCAA Tournament.

2004: In his first season at Ohio State, Veris was name first team All-Big Ten, anchoring an OSU defense that allowed just two goals in Big Ten play and reached the Third Round of the NCAA Tournament. Two of his three goals on the season were game-winners (9/10 at Oneonta St. and 10/10 vs. Michigan St.) and he was named the Offensive MVP of the Mayor's Cup in Oneonta as he scored once in each of the Buckeyes two matches in that competition.

2003: Red shirted while transferring from Akron to Ohio State.

2002: Had one goal and a career-high four assists while playing in all 19 games during what would be his final season at Akron.

2001: Played in 17 games, making 10 starts as a freshman at Akron. Finished the season with three goals, including one in the Zips NCAA Tournament game against South Florida.
