Kyle Beckerman sure knows how to make an impression, as, in his first full year with Real Salt Lake, he took over the captain's armband early in the '08 season and never relinquished it, playing nearly every minute of the team's season. The two-way midfielder and fiery leader spent most of the season on the left side of RSL's midfield diamond, but also served time as the defensive midfielder in the latter third of the campaign. Despite being firmly planted as the cornerstone of Real Salt Lake's emerging young core of talent, the 26-year-old will take to the field for his 10th MLS campaign in 2009 - when he's also expected to become the youngest player in League history to make 200 regular season appearances (potentially at Rio Tinto Stadium on May 6 against the L.A. Galaxy).
